These lightly fried bamboo slices (takenoko kara age) might just be the perfect snack to have on a sunny day by the beach! Even better when paired with a nice cold beer!

Marinated in dashi, soy and mirin, chef Toshi dusts each bamboo shoot in corn starch and gives them a light and crispy texture with a quick dunk in the fryer. Served with a savory and creamy yuzu ranch dressing, they’re tastier than any bag of chips you’ve ever had! And for the health nut in you, did you know that bamboo shoots are filled with antioxidants, are low in calories and known to lower bad cholesterol? Tasty AND good for you, we like that!

Stop by Bamboo Izakaya for a complimentary dish of these yummy Japanese treats. To welcome you to our new digs, chef Toshi is giving each table free takenoko kara age all throughout the month of February!

This is exciting!

We’re officially opening our doors this evening to great reviews! Check us out on Eater L.A - They’ve already caught on giving us a nod of approval!

What’s so different and awesome about Bamboo you ask? First of all, we’ve rid ourselves of paper menus and are giving you brand new, interactive touch screen menus. This means you don’t have to wait around or wave your arms up in the air, for someone’s attention to order drinks and food. Instead you get to relax, drink with your friends and order as you please with just a quick tap of the finger!

Our menu is created so you can experience more than just a couple of dishes in one sitting: All dishes served cost around $10 and come in small plates. It’s like having a 9 course dinner for a lot less than what you’d get at a 4 star restaurant, without skimping on great, flavorful food!

Our executive chef Toshio Sakamaki is a veteran of Japanese cuisine. Brought over from Ozumo in San Francisco, he created the entire menu from scratch, going back to his roots and love for izakaya food in Tokyo, Japan. Keep an eye out for his weekly specials, as he’s got an endless supply of tasty dishes to share with us all!

Bamboo also has a premium sushi bar mended by chef Yamazaki and his team of fish specialists - Melt in your mouth, top notch quality sashimi, sushi and maki made to order.

While feasting on a large selection of classic and innovative Japanese dishes, you’ll see a drink list that’s just as impressive; over 26 sake imported straight from Japan, red and white wines (including Veuve Cliquot - oh la la!), Japanese beers and an extensive list of spirits to please even the pickiest of drinkers. Your evening will begin and end at Bamboo, I guarantee it!

Get there early so you can snatch a table outside, enjoy the warm breeze while sipping on a cold glass of sake. Sit back, share a laugh and soak up the stunning Santa Monica sunset right by the ocean.

Bamboo is opening this evening at 5:30pm.
